Meditation 17
Devotions upon Emergent Occasions

“No man is an iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee….”

I had a lot of fun doing this one…especially after I decided to incorporate an old photo of myself.  And when I say old photo I mean OLD, at least 54 years old as a matter of fact!  I’m wearing Cat Eye eyeglasses for pity’s sake 😀

(The photo is actually a copy of a photo of a photo.)

Happy Saturday!

Please NOTE:  If possession really is 9/10s of the law then the copyrights to the photo belong to me, even though my EX took the photo!  The photo was taken in Washington, DC, just thought I’d throw that in 🙂

After I edited this photo of a photo…I titled it “what young and in love looks like” 🙂

chasing the pig…

Back in 1951 we  were raising a pig on our mini farm.  We named him but for the life of me I can’t remember what…something like George or Tom or Bill I’m sure.  He loved to have his back scratched with a long stick, he loved it so much he would moan with pleasure.  And a reminder for all who don’t know, people still “dressed up” back then to go places, in my Dad’s case that would have been a suit with dress shirt and tie and a hanky in the pocket (for crying females), and his very best (shined) shoes with socks.

Daddy dressed in his Sunday best,

Was once put sorely to the test,

The fattened pig had escaped his jail,

And must be caught without fail.

Through the trees piggy did run,

Dad’s shirt was torn, not fun,

Piggy was caught and I must say,

He never again got out to play.

The End

summer streaming…

on a bit of cardboard 🙂

I do believe summer started here around the end of February.  The humidity rolled in and the daily temperatures began climbing.  So, for me, the reality of summer has already worn a bit thin.  A shade tree, a sward of green, a babbling brook, accompanied by a gentle breeze would be heaven on earth.

Streaming summer right into my back yard 🙂

The Paulownia Pirate

another in the

Childhood Memories Series

In 1952, when I was 10, my mother took me to the movies to see The Crimson Pirate, starring Burt Lancaster.  Quite naturally I fell “in love” with the ships, the swashbuckling pirates and Mr. Lancaster!

The next day I set about creating my own pirate ship, with the help of a lovely forked Paulownia tree, a wagon wheel, cinder blocks, a tall pole, nails, burlap and cord.  (I added the dingy to my drawing to hold up the The Paulownia Pirate sign.) 🙂

Upon this handsome pirate craft I sailed a heaving sea of green grass, dressed appropriately, with sword in hand, ready to pillage and plunder all that crossed my path.

Oh my, what fun I had as a child…my imagination knew no bonds!

Happy Tuesday

Confession time…

I’ve been procrastinating like crazy lately so I have projects, of all types and descriptions, that are begging for completion.  There’s a Proverb that goes like this, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”  (Though I’m not exactly sure if this covers the situation in my case because my spirit is pretty weak too.)

Example:  I bought new ink for my printer over a month ago…it’s still sitting on the shelf below the printer.  Why?  Because I’ve learned to continue using the old ink as long as it’ll hold out…in this case my plan backfired because the printer decided to on strike till I put in the new ink.  It irked me so bad I still haven’t put in the new ink 🙂

In the past couple of days, however, I have managed to cancel my ello, Tumblr and Twitter accounts.  But saved from the delete button was one of the first blogs I had online…my “blogspot” blog….Yaya Snaps!   (Under different names, the blog is a link to a different time, pre-2009…BDD.  So I hold on to it for the memories!)

It’s raining here and I don’t complain because we rather needed it…so Happy Day!
