trick or treat?

have a fun filled, safe Halloween 🙂

As I type this, I’m looking at the models for my artwork…the pumpkins (one real which will eventually be made into a crustless pumpkin pie) are part of my Halloween decorating.  I’ll share my Halloween Tree with you tomorrow…I know, I know…I don’t usually do teasers but I couldn’t resist 🙂

great grandma Frances…

and the chicken…

my muse was an ancient photo of my actual great grandma squatted amongst a lovely flock of chickens…I opted for using just one chicken.

unlike most of great grandma’s siblings her face was rather long and craggy…and extremely interesting.  sad to say I never knew her.

happy Tuesday

it’s almost time for Halloween 2015

I have no chimney so no haints will be flying out of my house this season of ghosts and goblins.  I will be going to the annual Halloween Party held at my son and DIL’s house.  Great FUN…I actually won a prize for my costume a couple of years ago…it was considered the SPOOKIEST, I was dressed as a WITCH (rather appropriate I thought).

🙂 🙂 🙂

The first Halloween Party I ever remember going to was in 1947, I was 5 and was dressed in a “way cool” lion costume!!  The party was held at the local school house and the whole community turned out to celebrate…those were the days!!

Happy Wednesday

Uncle Harry…

I found Uncle Harry’s face, not being carried around on a human, but in a design on a tombstone photo I saw on Facebook.  I sketched out my imagining in my little notebook and here, years later, is my final rendering of  “Uncle Harry.”

So, no, I don’t have a Uncle Harry but I did have a Uncle Henry.  And some of him went into my “Uncle Harry,” the red hair for one thing.  And the smile 🙂

Speaking of his smile, I’ve been trying to draw teeth that actually look like they’re in someone’s head for some time now.  I think Uncle Harry’s teeth turned out pretty well.
