the year of…

the hair rat 🙂

oh yes, there is such a thing as a hair rat and I just discovered a blog out there that will tell you all you ever wanted to know (or not) about using the “hair rat” to create a hair style

Quaintrelle Life

two things inspired me to draw my winking lady with the “hair rat” hair, a photo I saw recently in a restaurant and the fact that my mother used one back in the 1940s, when I was a young and very impressionable kid

until I did a little Google research on the “hair rat” I didn’t even know women were still wearing their hair in this retro style

but it’s happening and you learned about it here 🙂

      • I can imagine how impressive that was, especially for a child. Hairdos in those times had a clear form, hair was sort of ‘sculptured’. I have always found that more elegant.

Exactly today my mum sent me a highschool photo of hers (she was raised in Canada) of the year 1958 😀 She had naturally red hair, slightly ‘sculptured’ but without hair rats and she also looked so nice with her gingham blouse. xxx Maaamaaas 😉
