mix it up…

cityscape001I love this kind of watercolor…splash on some paint and then create something out of what you’ve done 🙂  When I do this again I’ll try to remember to splash a little of the building color into the water to get a suggestion of reflection.

curly girl…I thought a bit Bette Midlerish

I did this on the computer (after Memorial Day), meant to be sort of a homey scene, a place where someone has eaten almost all the fruit…but left one piece to tantalize the next person.  Perhaps a toast was made in remembrance of the loved one in the portrait, the glass long since washed and on the drain board.  The dog tags gotten out, old memories remembered, then left to be put away another day.  The veteran’s face left featureless so that the viewer could supply any face they wished.

Simple but I find profound!

enjoy your weekend,

curly bird – Rainbow Ranch

I’ve been realizing, since I started doodling my “curly birds” that they’re all flying right to left, because I’m right handed? because they’re trying to fly into the left half of my brain? 🙂

Rainbow Ranch is an actual place, Don and I built it (1986) with our own 4 hands and the assistance of my nephew (electrical) and our neighbors (trusses).

I didn’t realize till after I’d finished doodling that I left out all the center piers 🙂

happy Friday,

a light has flickered one last time…and gone out

rememberingMayaAngelou28May2014

whenever I needed a gritty, right-on quote I looked to Maya Angelou

she was down home wise and shared her wisdom with us

what is there left to say, but…

“thank you Ms. Angelou”

~~~~~
from “Caged Bird” – Maya Angelou
“A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped
and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.”
am I bad? you betcha!
So…it’s been almost 2 months since my last post, so much has happened, so little has happened during that time 🙂  I think I missed St Patrick’s Day and Easter AND my 1 (one) year anniversary on WordPress 🙂  I’m thinking about going back to my “doodles,” while I’ve been watching “sci fi” on Netflix I’ve been doodling and once I scan some of them into my computer we’ll be off and running!
Before I miss another occasion…Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s out there!
