weekend spent

creating this…

I read a piece the other day that stated that people don’t want to hear more words or see more photos about the environment…what they want to see is more ACTION…I agree!!!

It all starts with each one of us…I know I’m not doing nearly enough to reduce, recycle, reuse…I’m trying though…I think now before I throw something away, or even put it in the recycle bin.  Another article I read talked about a husband and wife team…they have managed to reduce their throw-away waste to 1, yes that’s ONE bag per MONTH!!!  I’m working on that…if they can do it there’s no reason I can’t…

all I have to do is

think of it this way

does one vote count?  of course it does

does one person picking up trash, garbage, refuse count?  of course it does

thanks for “listening”

Neylan and William

my two grandchildren…watercolors for their Mom, for her birthday in August

my son and DIL adopted Neylan and William at birth, the children are now 6 and 3 respectively.

While both are predominately African American, there is a bit of a mix in their genetic makeup.  Neylan has albinism, hence her lack of pigmentation in her skin, hair and eyes.

I “finished” William today…the next step will be matting and frames 🙂

Happy Birthday Mom!!

“ancient” angels

fantastic…”© 1999 TLC’s Rainbow Writings”…fourteen years ago…I’d almost forgotten about my Rainbow Writings website…this is one of the first images I ever created using my computer and my brand new Paint Shop Pro v5 by Jasc Software, Inc. (Jasc has since been bought out by Corel)…as you can tell I had a lot of fun using “smear” “smudge” and “burn”

around the same time I also learned about pixel x pixel art as I had made some online friends who created graphics this way…so I tried it out…with more angels

meet “Gentlewind”…my long ago website angel

I created her pixel x pixel and then ran her through PSP to add some different effects, the next angel was created completely pixel x pixel, no add ons 🙂

sometime through the years I forgot to save this angel as a .gif and she lost her transparent backgound…and poor dear she never was given a name 🙂

there’s a young man on Tumblr who does all of his art work pixel by pixel and most of it is animated…someone who viewed the site said it gave them a headache…but it is seriously interesting, I can’t imagine how he does such intricate work without it taking huge amounts of time…maybe he has better software than I did back in the “dark ages” 🙂

space…the only frontier

fantastic view!

I haven’t eaten a doughnut in years…subconsciously what was I thinking though 😀

of the three, this is my favorite

playing with Corel’s PaintShop Pro X5…I love space, love, love, love…if I was a billionaire, no maybe a trillionaire I’d be first in line for a space flight…and this from a person who’s phobic about heights and doesn’t like to fly

no matter, I want to “boldly go where no man has gone before” (Star Trek)

meanwhile I live vicariously in my little space doodlings

a throw in, my SUPER moon shot…

a sketch…

of a man in Greece

the original sketch I made was from a photo taken by Robert Geiss…Robert can be found at Facebook…here  He is a freelance photographer living in Greece.

I have permission from Robert to use the photo to sketch from…no permission for posting it on the web 😦

I made this sketch using the original sketch, and red, brown and black sketching lead 🙂

Same sketch, however, the P&S camera I used to shoot this one was set to B&W.

I added the reflection in the eye using computer software, tried using the white sketching lead but it didn’t work.

I’ll be sketching this face again…a very powerful face with intense eyes…a man on the street in Greece…photo taken several months ago.

getting back to the Sugar Shack

still rambling around on memory lane…not sure what made me remember “Sugar Shack” I just happened to find it hanging around in a fun place in my mind…you’ll find Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs singing “Sugar Shack” at YouTube here

and because I figured that maybe there was some dancing going on at the “Sugar Shack”…not just coffee drinking (hee hee) I’m tagging on “Let’s Dance” 🙂

shall we…dance?!!

enjoy your Wednesday 🙂

doodling dreams

I’ve always been fascinated by my dreams, especially recurring dreams about school, people, houses – I once had a quite lovely dream about flying to England and visiting people and places in that country, however, once I was there and started thinking about returning home, I realized I couldn’t – I absolutely do not like to fly.  And for years I dreamed I couldn’t get out of high school – I’d go to school (if I could find it) then I couldn’t open my locker, couldn’t find the classroom where I was meant to be, didn’t have my homework, wasn’t ready for the test, couldn’t find my way home again.

I wanted to see if I could recreate a dream with computer doodles and words – now to tackle some of my more difficult dreams…I’ve been meaning, for about 60 years, to keep a dream journal…perhaps I better start now 😀
